live-vibe: Open-Source Full-Duplex Voice Plugin for Claude Code With Smart Turn-Taking
Pale-Soil-2524 · reddit · 2026-10-04
A developer released live-vibe, an MIT-licensed Claude Code plugin that adds full-duplex voice conversation — always-open mic, instant barge-in, and natural backchanneling — similar to ChatGPT's voice mode.
- /live: full-duplex voice with Claude; it stops on your first word and resumes from where it paused.
- /vibe: director mode where Claude reads and directs worker subagents without editing files itself.
- /livevibe: a lightweight local voice model handles conversation and hands real work to Claude as director.
Bundles Kyutai streaming STT, Kokoro TTS, and WebRTC echo cancellation; supports CUDA and Apple silicon via MLX, with a WSL2 audio workaround. Turn-taking uses Kyutai's pause-forecast heads (0.5s close after your last word, trailing conjunctions extend the wait), and 0.7.0 adds an experimental GPT-Live-inspired path scaling wait by model confidence. Requires Claude Code ≥2.1.287 and uv; installs via the ottomation plugin marketplace.
