Engineer builds HDL benchmark in one day with Claude, originally estimated at 59 days

An engineer with 25 years in DSP notes HDL designers are the highest-paid, scarcest EE talent. He found Claude (Opus) can turn English into HDL, refactor problems to be HDL-solvable, and optimize architectures.
He set out to build an LLM benchmark based on HDL quality: Claude initially estimated 59 days, but they finished in one day — built, tested, simulated with fake data, and verified on real signals. He calls it the work of what would normally take a team, highlighting LLMs' disruptive potential in hardware engineering.
