NeuroAgent passes NeuroAI Turing test on zebrafish whole-brain data
aran_nayebi · x · 2026-10-04
Presents new work led by @rdkeller, NeuroAgent, showing how autonomous behavior and whole-brain dynamics emerge naturally from intrinsic curiosity grounded in world models and memory.
Highlights:
- A novel intrinsic drive (3M-Progress) that better matches the reliable autonomy of animals
- First task-optimized model of neural-glial computation
- Surprisingly, no linear regression was needed: a simple 1-to-1 mapping sufficed to pass the NeuroAI Turing Test on whole-brain zebrafish data (130,000 recorded units), given the right intrinsic drive
The author adds on glia: ANN units are universal function approximators, so glial function can be captured too.
