Machine learning veteran Pedro Domingos pushed back on imminent-AGI claims, arguing every such argument reduces to: "AI has solved a lot of problems recently, so it will solve all the remaining ones at the same speed." He called this kind of naive extrapolation particularly hilarious coming from people who are supposed to understand machine learning.
