Hallmark: an open-source skill making Claude Code, Cursor and Codex UIs look less AI-generated
tom_doerr · x · 2026-10-04
Hallmark, an open-source design skill by Together AI for Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex, aims to make AI-generated UIs not look AI-generated. It has 29.5k GitHub stars.
- How it works: picks a macrostructure per brief, dresses it in one of 21 themes, runs 57 slop-test gates plus a pre-emit self-critique, and refuses the on-distribution defaults LLMs were trained into. Two pages from two briefs feel like different sites, not color-swapped templates.
- Four verbs:
- Default: builds new UI and runs the slop test before handing back;
- hallmark audit: scores existing code against anti-patterns, punch list only;
- hallmark redesign: keeps copy + IA + brand, rebuilds with a different fingerprint;
- hallmark study: extracts design DNA (macrostructure, type-pairing, color) from a screenshot or URL.
- Live demo available; press T to cycle themes.
