Boston Dynamics drops Atlas pinky: four-finger hand with 13 DOF built for real work

Boston Dynamics gave its humanoid Atlas a new hand and deliberately omitted the pinky. The team spent a day with their pinkies taped to ring fingers before concluding the extra complexity wasn't worth it. The four-finger hand has 13 degrees of freedom, designed to operate human tools and survive actual work conditions.
