First hands-on with OpenAI's Dots in Europe via VPN, as AI assistants go mainstream

A Dutch user shares an early European hands-on with OpenAI's personal assistant Dots:
- How: used a $200/mo ChatGPT Pro subscription over a VPN to a US server, recorded a Dutch-language conversation with his Dot assistant "Jasper"; works well in Europe, and he thinks the category could go mainstream within a year if the EU AI Act allows it.
- Landscape: Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots are both based on the much-discussed open-source OpenClaw — Meta didn't even rename the OpenClaw files in its Markdown docs. He previously experimented with OpenClaw and open-source Hermes.
- Open-source preference: Hermes/OpenClaw keep your harness and configuration intact and are model-agnostic.
- Pricing: OpenAI announced the $200 tier will drop to lower usage from end of October, with a new $500/mo tier — effectively more than doubling the price; Dots is free for about a month.
