Cryptographer argues embodiment theories already failed once: AI got intelligence without a body
matthew_d_green · x · 2026-10-04
Cryptographer Matthew Green critiques a philosopher's shifting argument: in 2016 they claimed intelligence was impossible without a body or biological mind; a decade later, something very much like intelligence exists without either. Their newer claim is that consciousness still requires a biological body/mind. Green argues the first failure is directly relevant to judging the quality of the second — and suggests the author may simply want embodiment to be critical.
