Cambridge AI researcher disputes Anthropic's antitrust excuse for not slowing down
DavidSKrueger · x · 2026-10-04
David Krueger, AI safety researcher at Cambridge, says Anthropic insiders repeatedly told him the company can't coordinate to slow AI development because of antitrust law. After consulting several leading lawyers, he disagrees with that framing. He points out Meta spent $2.4B on lawyers in a single quarter fighting claims its products harm kids, and asks how much Anthropic has actually spent on this antitrust issue — implying the legal barrier is not insurmountable.
