Nielsen: mathematicians are myopic about how AI will upend academia

In a follow-up to his chess-vs-mathematics thread, Michael Nielsen says many mathematicians are myopic about AI's impact: they treat it as a separate issue for the math/academic community to respond to, missing that whatever those communities do will likely be a tiny part of a much larger societal rearrangement — and they show little awareness of or interest in understanding the bigger picture.
