Solo dev runs a 1,000-user SaaS on Claude Code by giving the repo an Obsidian memory

A solo developer running a 1,000-user SaaS built mostly with Claude Code shares how he solved the 'every session starts from zero' problem.
Setup
- docs/ is an Obsidian vault with 174 notes, categorized into systems/decisions/playbooks/numbers/daily
- Every note has frontmatter (type, status: active/shipped/parked, updated date) so Claude knows if a note is still true
- Dataview surfaces notes untouched for 60+ days where docs have drifted
Two hooks do the work
- SessionStart injects a ≤3,000-char digest: recent session logs, open decisions, stale notes
- Stop hook checks git — if the session committed outside docs/, it blocks once and forces note updates; the trigger is a commit, not a file change, so half-finished work never gets documented
Two rules keep it honest: only settled things get notes, and any change touching documented behavior updates the note in the same pass — a stale note does more damage than a missing one. Full replication prompt included.
