OpenAI quietly ships MCP Events, bringing event-driven triggers to agents beyond cron
nbaschez · x · 2026-10-04
OpenAI's developer docs now include MCP Events, a plugin event mechanism that many say is being overlooked. Until now, most agents could only "wake up and do something" via cron jobs or when a user messaged them. MCP Events adds event-driven triggers, letting agents react automatically to external events — a big deal for autonomous agent architectures. Full docs are live on the OpenAI developer site, including an llms.txt index and Markdown page versions.
