Anil Seth warns against 'anthropo-equivalent AI' indistinguishable from humans
anilkseth · x · 2026-10-03
Neuroscientist Anil Seth pushed back on Dioscuri over the Griffin controversy: the issue isn't anthropomimetic AI (which has upsides and downsides), but building avatars empirically indistinguishable from humans, now including video and audio.
Seth sees no legitimate motivation for such "anthropo-equivalent AI" and massive potential for disaster, citing Daniel Dennett's 2023 arguments. A substantive debate on anthropomorphism risks in AI.
