What happens to local accents when every message gets polished by AI?

The author likes using AI to polish writing, especially when tired or writing in a weaker language. But polished output strips away the small quirks — local expressions, unusual sentence patterns, minor awkwardness — that make someone sound like themselves. If everyone optimizes for 'professional,' do we slowly lose the variety that makes communication interesting? Where's the line between improving communication and flattening identity?
