OpenAI safety researcher in TIME: stop frontier AI scaling now

Geoffrey Irving, former VP of safety at OpenAI, argues in TIME that numerous scientific uncertainties about AI won't resolve until it's too late to act. Given the very high risk he sees, he calls for halting frontier AI scaling now rather than waiting for those questions to be answered.
