antirez: Systems that limit failure modes deserve a place over 'linearizable at all costs'
antirez · x · 2026-10-03
Redis creator antirez argued that a system which carefully avoids common failure modes—or merely limits the blast radius of failures—earns its place even if it trades away stellar behavior when everything goes right.
In a follow-up, he added that given how many systems and companies have come and gone, the industry would no longer blindly buy the "linearizable at all costs" argument.
