User reports OpenAI API account with $2,000+ spend wiped clean, Codex credits zeroed
RecursivelyYours · reddit · 2026-10-03
A Reddit user reports their long-standing OpenAI API account — with an estimated $2,000+ lifetime spend and remaining credits — suddenly appeared brand new: no invoices, no API call history, no loaded funds.
At nearly the same time, their Codex account lost all 60,000 credits in a single refresh. The user says they received no explanation and has seen no other reports of the issue.
It's unclear whether this is an account-level bug, a risk-control action, or something worse; worth watching for more reports.
