Capcom's REX project will turn RE Engine into an AI-generation game engine with agent playtesters

Capcom, the studio behind Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter, plans to transform its RE Engine into an "AI-generation game engine" through its REX upgrade project, gradually integrating new tech into existing tools.
One example: AI agents that play games, understand what's on screen, and help test for problems automatically. The goal is to make huge, complex games faster and easier to develop, with AI working alongside human creators.
With AAA games taking years and enormous teams to build, better tooling could free up more time for experimentation and gameplay refinement.
