Reddit user ditches Zellij for Herdr to juggle multiple agent CLI sessions

A heavy user describes switching from Zellij to Herdr, a TUI purpose-built for managing agent CLI platforms, to handle simultaneous long-running sessions of codex, Claude Code, pi, OMP and OpenCode over SSH.
Highlights:
- Herdr supports all major agent CLIs out of the box; the author calls it "the baby of T3 Code and Zellij."
- Killer feature: paste images directly into a CLI (delivered as a png file), solving a long-standing pain point with CLI versions of Codex and Claude Code.
- Supports tabs and split panes with mouse/right-click menus, and sessions survive closing and reopening the app.
- A unified panel shows all running agents and which ones need attention.
- The author also demoed an "AI employee" workflow: having Astra write an implementation plan, then letting the Warp AI terminal execute the install and setup.
He considers Herdr a big UX upgrade over ssh + Zellij, though he still prefers GUIs — T3 Code has a mobile app but remains "forever in beta." The accompanying 6-minute YouTube video is worth a watch.
