Grok users hit usage limits with no upgrade path — and the account link is permanent
JOBhakdi · x · 2026-10-03
Founder JOBhakdi rants about xAI's Grok bot billing design: when you hit the usage cap, there's no upgrade button, just confusing account options across Cursor, Grok and X.
His doc-digging conclusion is worse: the SuperGrok/Plus/Heavy-to-X account link is permanent and non-transferable — a higher tier can take up to 24 hours to raise the bot grant, users have lost paid Heavy access after deleting a linked Cursor account, and there's no documented way to swap a linked X grant for a SuperGrok one. His advice: turn on on-demand with a cap instead of buying a second subscription.
