Apple tightens macOS Full Disk Access rules citing risks from AI agents
brianmichel · x · 2026-10-03
Apple announced on its developer news site that it will introduce additional controls for the Full Disk Access setting on macOS, citing new risks from always-on AI agents like Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots. Apple says some developers are using Full Disk Access in ways that could expose everything on users' systems — files, mail, messages, even browsing history — without full user understanding. Going forward, granting this level of access will require very explicit user action. The developer community expects the changes to add compliance friction.
