Apple to limit Mac full disk access as AI agents 'substantially' raise risks
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-10-03
Apple is rolling out new controls for Mac "full disk access" permissions, saying AI agents "substantially" increase risk. Users who want to grant an app this extraordinary level of access will now need to do so with very explicit user action.
The move follows a report that Meta's Muse AI appeared to know the contents of a user's Messages without explicit permission on iPhone or Mac. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone pushed back, saying access to Messages is "entirely opt-in."
