14-year-old's 'Emmett eval': runs Liquid AI locally to keep his brain from turning to mush

Nicholas Thompson, CEO of The Atlantic, shared a new installment of the "Emmett eval": his 14-year-old nephew Emmett now mainly runs Liquid AI's open models locally on his own computer. His two reasons: he doesn't want his brain to turn to "MUSH" by 20, so he deliberately picks a less intelligent but still capable model to stay sharp; and he refuses to send his data to closed AI providers. Liquid AI's Joseph Jacks amplified the post, calling the teen's reasoning remarkable — a vivid sample of Gen-Z pushback against AI dependence and cloud privacy trade-offs.
