Artist uses dense optical flow to inject a ghost of life into abstract digital imagery
pixlpa · x · 2026-10-03
- Digital artist @pixlpa shares his method: since 2008 he has treated dense optical flow analysis of video as a material for animating abstract imagery.
- His key insight: movement is a perceptual signal the brain uses to define what we see, so intra-frame motion can be represented as an image alongside real images — creating an illusion of life and inserting a ghost of human intervention into digital systems.
