Tavus's Griffin starts talking before generation finishes, face reacts in 0.43s

A developer tries out Tavus's new real-time avatar model Griffin, whose core breakthrough is breaking the legacy you-talk-then-I-talk relay of voice assistants:
- A conversation model that never stops: it listens and watches constantly, deciding every fraction of a second whether to speak, react or wait, emitting controls for timing, stance, expression and gesture — it takes the turn because of what you said, not because audio stopped, so pausing to think doesn't end your turn
- Speech that doesn't wait for the sentence: every 10ms of audio is squished into a 40-number latent; the model writes the next latent the moment it knows what to say and plays it immediately — starting a sentence before working out the end, like humans. It can also clone a voice from 10 seconds of audio
- A face that doesn't wait for audio: griffin-lite draws one latent at a time with zero lookahead — 0.43s from sound to face on H100s, half the next fastest method measured
- Full-scene rendering: every pixel comes from one reference image, so chairs move and shadows follow, rather than pasting a fake face on a background
The author notes it raises the question of humans' role once again — but very cool tech.
