NSF renews EngageAI Institute with $20M for 3D world models in K-12 learning

The NSF renewed the EngageAI Institute for another five years with $20M in additional funding, extending it through 2031. The institute is led by NC State with UNC, Vanderbilt, Indiana University and Digital Promise as partners.
- UNC's Mohit Bansal serves as lead co-PI, running the core AI research on 3D world models for multimodal narrative learning environments and AI that adapts to student needs in K-12 science classrooms.
- The institute will be hiring postdocs and PhD students over the next five years.
