nordicinst · x · 2026-10-03
WIRED reports that Nathan Lambert and Tom Zick founded nonprofit Trillium Labs to do risky AI research — including recursive self-improvement and agents — out in the open, publishing experiment details so outside scientists can study and replicate them. Lambert argues the closed trajectory of frontier labs reduces the community's ability to scrutinize ideas: "the current closed trajectory of frontier AI development is taking us a step backwards."
