Analysts speculate Apple's new home hub is built for on-device, family-shared AI

Reacting to mgseigler's speculation about Apple's forthcoming home device, Carolina Milanesi offers her theory: it's a hub with enough compute to keep a family's AI interactions on-device. If it's HomePod-class, it doubles as an entertainment device, with far-field mics making it the natural place to talk to AI across the room. Her hope: "communal AI done well" — an assistant that recognizes who's speaking, respects each person's privacy, and still serves the household, with privacy as the differentiator.
