Gemini desktop app to gain Full Access mode for cross-app computer use, leak shows
testingcatalog · x · 2026-10-02
TestingCatalog spotted a hidden "Additional sandbox options" setting in the Gemini desktop app, hinting at a much broader computer-use mode.
- With the option enabled, Gemini could operate beyond selected folders, access the internet, and run long workflows across apps without per-step approval
- High-stakes actions like purchases or approving legal documents would still require human confirmation
- The feature is in trusted testing; Google hasn't announced a rollout timeline
Timing is notable: Google introduced Gemini 4 Argon on September 30 via the Fairwind program for security experts, and is benchmarking it on OSWorld 2.0 and Agent's Last Exam for computer use — though Google hasn't linked Argon to these desktop capabilities.
