rseroter · x · 2026-10-02
- Google Cloud announced general availability of Spanner Omni, the deploy-anywhere version of Spanner, offering the same core capabilities as the fully managed service on-premises, in other clouds, or on a laptop — free for developers.
- Spanner pioneered distributed SQL over a decade ago and has evolved into a multi-model database combining SQL, graph, key-value, full-text and vector search, and columnar analytical processing in one engine, aimed at agentic AI applications.
- Since its debut at Google Cloud Next '26, Spanner Omni has surpassed 2 million downloads.
