exe.dev's 'Run Fewer Agents': why task management isn't the fix for agent sprawl
charles_irl · x · 2026-10-02
exe.dev engineer Josh Bleecher Snyder argues that 'software factory' demos are all really task management—Kanban boards, Slack/email UIs, dependency graphs—used to hide agent latency by spawning more concurrent agents, at the cost of destroying human flow.
Practical alternatives: hand human communication to a fast small model (Luna 6, no coding tools, deliberately short context) so users get real-time discussion before the bigger model resumes with rich feedback; and do old-fashioned engineering like making tests fast. The call to arms: be equally productive with fewer agents, echoing XP/Lean's 'limit work in progress' from 30 years ago.
