DeepMind's Szepesvari: Compute Constraints Will Keep AI-Driven Math Exploration Human-Led
CsabaSzepesvari · x · 2026-10-02
Responding to kfountou's claim that AI swarms will autonomously discover and solve math problems, DeepMind research scientist Csaba Szepesvari argues that in the short term we remain compute- and resource-bound, and he doesn't expect large numbers of AIs to be unleashed for sustained curiosity-driven mathematical exploration.
As before, he expects human mathematicians—holding the curiosity and some AI access—to continue driving that exploration.
