Hands-on with ChatGPT Dots: no schedule access, no call transcripts, and other rough edges
koltregaskes · x · 2026-10-02
A first-hand review of ChatGPT Dots highlights several shortcomings:
- Dots can't see schedules; their "tasks" are separate
- No transcripts from voice mode calls
- Bright spot: you can move around the site without breaking the voice call
- No access to local work mode sessions
- Can connect only one external device with limited commands; sees local drives but not network drives
- The dot itself can't end the call, and there's no voice trigger to start one
- When connected to a computer, the dot can't see ChatGPT sessions
- Product naming is confusing: Pets, Dots, Minis should arguably be one thing
Also noted from Code Cloud: the ChatGPT desktop app doesn't allow having a cloud and local session at the same time.
