14 AI models race to rebuild photos in Blender: GPT-6 Astra sweeps with 66/100
smith2008 · reddit · 2026-10-02
A Reddit user ran a controlled 3D-reconstruction benchmark: each of 14 models got the same photos and Blender, had to write code to rebuild the scene in 20 minutes on a $4 budget, and a non-AI scoring script compared renders against the originals.
- GPT-6 Astra won all three photos, averaging 66/100, but at $3.91 per attempt
- GPT-6.1 Sol placed second at just 36 cents per attempt, a far better cost/perf ratio
- Two models failed to save a scene in time
Full write-up with every render is in the comments.
