Responding to Jason Wei's framing of two flavors of AI for Science, David Stutz argues the second flavor—generalist knowledge combined with a range of specialized tools/models—will dominate. Like protein folding becoming one tool among several in design problems, many scientific problems will need generalist models working alongside specialized ones, though the first flavor still has a role.
