Netflix confirmed in an SEC filing it paid $587 million cash for Ben Affleck's 16-person AI startup InterPositive — about $37M per employee. Affleck argued public video models trained on peers' films can't be sold to studios, so the company spent 8 months shooting its own controlled dataset for late-stage training. The real assets: clean dailies and title to the weights, not the model itself.
