DataMagic: multi-agent system turns raw data into data videos, +83% quality, 79.7% faster
Yupeng Xie · hf · 2026-10-02
HKUST's DataMagic authors data videos from raw tabular data via declarative multi-agent orchestration. A declarative spec (DVSpec) unifies charts, narration and animations with data-bound references for provenance and audio-visual sync, while a Generate-then-Orchestrate strategy optimizes narrative coherence. Even GPT-5 scores only 2.13/5 with 48.6-86.2% execution success; DataMagic reaches 3.89 (+83%) with >95% success, cuts task time by 79.7% in user studies, and is open-sourced on GitHub.
