US prosecutors allege Greg Lui, owner of Earthmade Computer, smuggled over $300M in export-controlled AI GPU servers to China, facing up to 20 years for export-control conspiracy, 10 for smuggling, and 20 for money laundering.
- Servers bought from US manufacturers in 2023-2024 were shipped via Malaysia and Singapore (no license required) before reshipment to China, with false end-user paperwork.
- In January 2024, Lui allegedly ordered 27 H100-equipped servers for $7.614M ($282K each).
- Two Malaysia-based shipping firms paid Earthmade over $176M between January and October 2024, per prosecutors.
