OpenAI re-records Dot demo after live failure: it books flights, hotels and triages user feedback
pvncher · x · 2026-10-02
After its launch-event demo failed (blamed on WiFi), OpenAI re-recorded an unedited Dot agent demo. Via a phone call, the user asked Dot to: book compliant, refundable travel to LA (Dot found a $326 Southwest flight, suggested hotels with photos, and proactively flagged that a 1pm landing was too tight for a 3pm meeting); triage a messy user-feedback channel and reply in Slack with retry links, adding a verification step unprompted; and draft replies to questions about how Dots relates to ChatGPT, Slack and Teams. Top user feedback themes: reliability (unclear if the agent is working), then mobile and notifications.
