Perplexity researcher denisyarats announced pplx-decider-v1-27b, an open-source generative discriminator trained on top of Qwen3 27B:
- Native 250K context, multimodal (can analyze images)
- Strong performance on public held-out and internal benchmarks
- Internal use case: classifier ensembles built on it monitor RL rollouts, speeding up training and surfacing issues in RL environments and model behavior
- Available via the Perplexity API at a very low price ($0.04/1M tokens), set to drop further
