Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced the open-sourcing of pplx-decider-27b, a state-of-the-art multimodal "Decision Model," along with a new Decisions API priced at 4 cents per million input tokens with free output tokens, promising further price cuts in the coming days.
LangChain founder Harrison Chase highlighted it as a new open-weights entrant in the decision-model class, describing the emerging pattern: use cheap typed-answer models for small calls inside an agent harness (routing, approvals, judging), and reserve big models for the rest.
