Microsoft's official X account appears hijacked, pushes Clippy crypto scam
tomwarren · x · 2026-10-02
The Verge's Tom Warren spotted that Microsoft's official X account appeared to be taken over: it followed and reposted an obvious Clippy crypto scam and changed its profile picture to Clippy. The posts were removed, and a strange "apology" tweet appeared 30 minutes later before being quickly deleted. It's unclear whether this was a hack or an admin blunder.
