Andriy Burkov slams Supabase: 150s edge function cap, no npm, no CLI logs
burkov · x · 2026-10-02
Andriy Burkov published a furious post titled "this is how winning companies fail," recounting two years of Supabase pain since an AI recommended it for vibe coding (Postgres-based, Deno edge functions, low lock-in). His gripes: edge functions effectively cap at 150s despite a nominal 400s limit — an arbitrary number from years ago; they can't import any npm libraries (pure JS/TS only); and the CLI can't pull failed edge function logs, forcing him to have his harness open a browser and scrape the UI. His core complaint: an industry-leading brand with every advantage isn't striving to lead.
