OpenDots: open-source, event-driven agent that pursues persistent goals locally
Desperate-Ad-9679 · reddit · 2026-10-02
A developer released OpenDots, an MIT-licensed, self-hosted alternative to OpenAI Dots. Instead of restarting conversations, you give it a persistent goal, connect an event source, and pick a model; when events arrive it evaluates relevance and proposes work, gated by approval controls. The demo shows GitHub issue → agent-proposed patch → human approval → inspection. It works with Claude Code, Codex CLI, model APIs, or local Ollama models, runs on Linux, and keeps run history and patches.
