Cloudflare open-sources Clef decision models topping Jev Decision Index, launches RL fine-tuning platform
steipete · x · 2026-10-02
Cloudflare released two open-source decision models, Clef and Clef-flash, hosted on Workers AI and currently topping the Jev Decision Index benchmark.
Key points:
- Decision models produce bounded, structured outputs cheaply, fast and consistently, slotting into agent workflows for classification-style decisions without retraining for new categories — complementing open-ended, non-deterministic LLMs.
- Fully open source under Apache 2.0 on Hugging Face, runnable locally, Jev-API compatible, with a live benchmark demo site.
- New RL product: customers can fine-tune Clef for their own use cases.
- The move follows the buzz around Typesafe AI's Jev System One, which popularized the decision-model concept.
