Compound AI adds Sol 6.1 and argues products should abstract model choice away from users
peterjliu · x · 2026-10-02
Compound (b.ai) integrated Sol 6.1 just two days after release, arguing that users can't tell model releases apart and that offloading model selection to users is lazy product design—most AI apps do exactly that. Internally, Sol 6.1 beats Claude on efficiency benchmarks, delivering Opus 5.5 quality faster and cheaper than Sonnet 5.5; larger models can be more efficient by finding better shortcuts to hard problems.
