AI Video Loses Its Awe Fast: Novelty Wears Off Quickly, Sayash Kapoor Predicts
sayashk · x · 2026-10-02
AI researcher Sayash Kapoor argues that today's viral AI-generated videos won't stay compelling for long. Fun to make and watch the first few times, but as they become easier to create and more pervasive, their novelty will wear out quickly — much like early ChatGPT demos now look "cute but kind of annoying."
AI will be extremely useful for video makers, he notes, but since everyone competes for the same eyeballs, what creators do with AI is what differentiates them. He also points to emerging tells in these videos that will make audiences groan as they proliferate.
