Open-source Observer uses local LLMs to watch your screen and phone you when agents finish
Roy3838 · reddit · 2026-10-02
Solo dev Roy released Observer, an open-source app that runs tiny local LLMs (like Gemma) in the browser as "Micro Agents" to monitor your screen and notify you — by phone call — when something happens.
- Primary use case: watching Claude Code/Cowork agent runs so you don't miss their "notify me" messages; the author jokes it's LLM-inception — Gemma babysitting Claude
- Monitors nearly the whole dev pipeline: agent runs, AWS deployments, CI/CD, GitHub Workflows, ML training, test suites, compilation, Docker builds, Terraform/K8s rollouts, DB migrations/backups, Grafana/Datadog anomalies, ticket/inbox changes, restock/booking pages, price tickers
- Fully local and private; try it in the browser and just type what you want monitored
