10B robots would need 2 trillion GB of RAM vs ~45B GB of annual global DRAM output
DirtyTesLa · x · 2026-10-01
DirtyTesLa estimates each humanoid robot needs 200GB of RAM; with Elon Musk predicting robots will eventually outnumber people, 10 billion robots would require 2 trillion GB of RAM.
The world currently produces only 45 billion GB of DRAM per year — a gap of tens of times, which contextualizes Musk's decision to slash RAM on Tesla's AI5/AI6 chips for Optimus scale and hints at future tera-scale memory fab demand.
