Per WSJ, OpenAI fired three researchers from its safety team who allegedly shared confidential company information with an outside AI safety organization. An internal investigation confirmed they mishandled sensitive information and violated company policies.
The author argues that working on "AI safety" grants no moral exemption: the label doesn't free anyone from the rules everyone else must follow, and if the allegations are accurate the firings are entirely reasonable.
